Abu Dhabi has recently unveiled yet another exciting project that will be built on Saadiyat Island, called Saadiyat Grove. The island is famed for its collection of unique cultural landmarks. Valued at AED 5.5B (USD 1.5B), the new development will become a “connective fabric” between 3 iconic museums – the Louvre Abu Dhabi, the Guggenheim Abu Dhabi (due in 2025) and the Zayed National Museum (the opening date yet to be announced).

The construction of Saadiyat Grove is already progressing and will be open to the public in less than 5 years. That being said, upon its completion, the multi-billion dirham project will house about 3,000 homes, including the newly launched Louvre Abu Dhabi and Grove Museum Views complexes, 2 hotels, co-working spaces for new enterprises and startups, as well as almost 646,000 sq. ft of leisure, entertainment and retail spaces.
The upcoming development will feature traditional design principles, with its squares and streets that will be arranged in a “city-layering plan” across many levels. The master plan includes F&B venues at street level and retail outlets at street and first levels, allowing guests and residents to enjoy a stunning view of the landmarks from all angles. Not forgetting that there will be visitor-dedicated zones, such as galleries and libraries.

To bolster sustainability in the UAE capital, Saadiyat Grove will have an array of transport modes, including autonomous cars, shuttle buses, shaded integrated walkways, motorized bikes, segways, and personal rapid transit, which is a totally driverless vehicle.
Saadiyat Grove is being implemented by Aldar Properties, who is Abu Dhabi’s largest listed real estate developer, in collaboration with CRTKL, who is a global cultural agency, which specialises in architecture, planning and design.
